Paleohora (Paliohora) is the second biggest town of southern Crete.
The town is located almost at the southwestern end of the island,
has aprox. 2000 inhabitants.
The only way to reach Paleohora is from Hania, a trip of 75 km of
good asphalt road. Regular public transportation is available for
visiting Paleohora.
People are occupied in tourism, olive cultivation,
fishing, and lately tomato production in green house.
There are many small beaches around the town. The city is a popular
resort, so there are many hotels, apartments, rooms to rent, restaurants,
taverns, bars and a camping site.
During the summer small ships provide tours to the beaches around
the island and other small villages like Sfakia, Sougia, Loutro,
Elafonissi and the famous Samaria gorge.
